    I have tried repeatedly to change the setting under Discussion that requires comment authors to post their emails. I can’t get the site to display the changes. I desperately need to make this change asap. Please let me know why the new settings, which show as saved, don’t show up on the site.

    Hi! I just tested your site. Your commenters don’t have to add an email address. You changed your setting correctly. The field is there, in case they choose to have their email attached, but they certainly don’t need to enter one.

    If you would like to make that clear in your message on the actual comment form, you can do so here:

    Scroll down to Prompt: Leave a Reply. If you tell them something along the lines of, “Do not enter an email address, if you don’t wish to log into a user account.” That’s terrible wording, and I’m sure you can do better. But, you get the idea!

    Thank you. That this is optional isn’t at all clear to users from the default form. I will try to add the statement. I appreciate the prompt help. I was getting frustrated.
