I need to get 410/404 errors from deleted blog

    Hi,
A couple of weeks ago, I deleted my old blog, http://matutei.wordpress.com/.
Now I’m requesting Google to remove all references to it from its index.
Google claims that it will do so, provided the URL returns a 404 or a 410 error.
When I go to the deleted blog URL, I don’t get any kind of error, only a formated page from WordPress.com saying that this blog is no longer available.

    1) Is it possible to have those errors issued when loading that URL?
    2) Will Google get those errors even if the displayable page does not show them?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi. All you can do now is wait. Had you not deleted the blog, you could have perhaps used Google Webmaster Tools to speed up the process. But since you don’t have access to the deleted blog’s dashboard anymore, that’s not an option.

And by the way, your blog does return a “410 – gone” error already.

Well, if it already returns 410, then my request for Google index removal will be probably accepted and executed.

So, if I correctly understood it, the formatted page WordPress.com shows when I try to go to that deleted URL, concerns only to the way it will display, but internally it will still carry that error code so that anyone who wants it will get it, like ismybloworking.com, or Google.

    Am I correct?

Correct. It’s all in Google’s hands now.
