I need to import or rather transfer my site I built through another web host to this wordpress site. Can that be done. Also if that is done will it effect the woo commerce I have already set up on that site other site, because if it does then I need to find another way to transfer my site. They say the site is a wordpress.org and wordpress.com does not integrate is that so?

    Hello!

I’m tagging this post for the staff’s attention, as I’m not sure how the WooCommerce would transfer. I’m sure they can assist you with this.

I hope that helps, and let me know how you go!

  • Hi there,

With the WordPress.com Business Plan you can use WooCommerce here. The WooCommerce plugin has a built in exporter you can use, but we can also use a VaultPress backup to restore your existing self-hosted site to a new WordPress.com Business Plan site.

However, I see you’ve since cancelled your Business Plan, so it looks like you might have changed your mind.

Please let me know if you need any more help with this.

Hello Kokkieh this is technically not a self hosted site. It is a VPN under Godaddy. However I have been the one making sure the back ups and updates get done so I feel as though I have been self hosting it. I was trying to change the theme and for some reason it will not allow me to change the theme to the karuna. It said that theme does not support my woo commerce that paypal help me set up on the theme the woo commerce is on now. Someone on Godaddy initially helped me set the settings up in the backend of the wordpress so I could fit files as big a 4GB in the media section. I believe it has to do with the settings somewhere in the whm of the backend. Not totally sure just guessing. When I initially tried to switch over to wordpress on the karuna theme someone from wordpress said they could not change that setting like Godaddy had done to make the files fit. So that is the issue I was having. However at this point I am just trying to find a different host or a way to transfer my site somewhere not as costly. For I have had to many issues dealing with different people on the Godaddy team not everyone, just some. I hope this makes since. Thanks for any further help

Excuse me but perhaps providing the actual URL of the site you refer to would be a good idea. At present your wordpress.COM username is unhelpfully linked to a facebook site.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, and is a way to prevent people from spying on or hijacking your internet connection. Do you perhaps mean a VPS – Virtual Private Server?

If you rsite is not with WordPress.com, it’s a self-hosted site, i.e. it’s not hosted on our servers. It has nothing to do with whether you own the actual server, who does the maintenance, or anything like that.

We’re not able to help with self-hosted sites in this forum as we don’t have any access to your hosting account, your server or your site’s dashboard.

That is correct. On the WordPress.com Business Plan you have unlimited media storage, but it’s not possible to upload media files larger than 100MB, or 1GB for video files.

If you need the ability to upload larger files than that, then WordPress.com is not the right hosting platform for you.

You can find some other hosting providers here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

Some of them might have a service where they more your site for you from your current hosting, so make sure to check on that when you look at the options.
