I need to negotiate a domain from one of your users.
-
Hello,
My organization recently lost a domain name for a few days on accident and before we realized it, someone had made a blog using the name and it is powered by wordpress. I do not know how to contact the user and they aslo seem to be from Thailand so I need some help contacting them. The domain is KYACountry.com, we have owned it for over 10 years and would greatly appreciate some help getting it back. -

We can’t really help you since the domain name is not registered here nor is the blog hosted here (see above for more info) – you need to do a “whois” to find the contact info – internet regulation require contact info to be publicly available – they are registered with Godaddy so you might try a whois with them.

People jump on domains that are not renewed in hopes of making a lot of money. You should be prepared to get asked for a lot. I’ve seen situations like this end up costing a company thousands of dollars to get their domain name back.

I saw a domain name for a town that only had 50 people living in it squatted on and the squatter wanted I think over $1,000 for the domain – and the town had never had a web site – yes they found a bit different way to get a similar domain name
