  Hi,

  Password protection can only be applied to posts or pages. See the Post Visibility and Page Visibility support pages for information and instructions. A WordPress.com site can not be password protected. The closest thing would be to set the site visibility to “I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose” at Settings > Reading.
