  • Hey there,

If you’re wanting to transfer your domain to Bluehost, you should never cancel it at your current host because once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

The only way we can point the nameservers over to Bluehost for you is to restore the domain with us.

For more information on using the domain elsewhere, please see:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore the domain back to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back.

Let me know if you would like for me to try and regain the domain for you.

    Thanks!

Hi! Yes, can you please help me restore that domain?
I just really want my blog to be chocolateismyvice.com.

  • Hi there,

I just contacted our registry partner and I will keep you updated once the domain is reactivated under your account.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

We heard back from our domain partner and your domain chocolateismyvice.com has been released from their system and is available to be re-registered. The domain mapping subscription you had would have gotten in the way of that, so I removed it and gave you credit for the payment. Please register the domain again as if it was new and let us know if you have any trouble.

I’m sorry that I am so clueless :( I have a few more questions:
Do I need to re-register through blue host, or with you?
Do I cancel my chocolateismyvice.net account, and re-register and repay for another account with chocolateismyvice.com?
I already have some blog posts up, will I lose all of them?

Do you guys offer a service where someone can do this for me?
    I am a little lost.
    :(

    Hi!
I re-registered chocoloateismyvice.com through blue host for $9.00 and some change. Is that right?

Yes, if you are planning on hosting your site at Bluehost as well, that was the right decision.

I’ll refund the remaining $13 that is under your account as well.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
