  My blog was hacked. How can I recover my blogs?

  Somehow my son-in-law ended up on my blogs. How can I recover my blog?

  If anyone is posting anything to your blog or deleting anything from it then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.

  Who, aside from you, has access to your login information?

  Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs
  Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

  1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.

  2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

  3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/

  4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
  You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
  http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/

  5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

  Hi @sooz62,

  Could you elaborate on the blog address(es) that were hacked as well as the action or actions that have led you to believe you were hacked? I’m happy to look into this for you!

  The secret garden one is the main one and the other one is my secondary blog.

  I was checking for replies on my blogs, and got called away for about an hour. When I came back, https://wordpress.com/stats/glennpersonaltrainer.wordpress.com had taken it over.

  This last one is one I used to run for my son-in-law, but he abandoned it three or four or more years ago.

  Since I worked on his blog, I was able to access it, but I was unable to take back my two personal blogs, the secret garden and the other one the curious introvert.

  If you can shed any light on it and/or help me get control of my personal blogs I would be thankful.

  Hi Susan,

  The two blogs you mentioned are owned by a different WordPress.com account. You’ll need to log in to that account (not your account sooz62) to manage those blogs. (Your account sooz62 has access to your son-in-law’s blog, but there’s no sign that it was ever linked to the other two blogs you mentioned.)

  If you need, you can reset your password for that other account here:

  http://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  If you still aren’t able to access that account and those blogs, please follow the steps in our Account Recovery guide for more help with that.
