Hello,
I have my site set up by me and my domain set up with you guys by someone else. I want to transfer my domain to a different registrar and to do that I want to access my ‘transfer domain’ settings page and for some reason I am not allowed to do this? I need your help to remove that person from my page so that I can manage it myself as they are not willing to help me. I want to be the only person in control of my website settings can you help? Natalia

Hi Natalia,
I am tagging this post so a staff member can take a look and help you asap. Also, do you see this site listed under “My site” of your WordPress.com account?
Thanks!

Hey,
Yes this is the only site I have. I want to use the domain somewhere else but I am having real problems getting it transferred becaue he wants me to pay him to do it? He is making it difficult for me and I want to get him removed from my page as an admin.

To change the role another person has on your blog, follow the instructions in:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#changing-user-rolesI want to transfer my domain to a different registrar and to do that I want to access my ‘transfer domain’ settings page and for some reason I am not allowed to do this?
You do not mention it, but are you following the directions in:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/
You must be logged in with the account used to purchase the domain, so if your account was not used when the domain was bought, you will need access to that account. If you do not have access to that account directly, the person who created the account can transfer the domain to you by following the procedures in:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/Hope that helps!

Hello,
The trouble is that that person is very mean to me and he is demanding money for me to have access to that. It’s done in my address with my bank details how the hell I can’t access it? He won’t give me any details unless I pay him the money! Is there a way to have my domain back?

Hi there,
You don’t own any domains on WordPress.com. The other user owns the domain. It doesn’t matter that they don’t own the site. They bought the domain so legally the domain is their property, and like with any property they have the right to sell it rather than just giving it away.
Only they can transfer the domain. I literally cannot transfer the domain, even if you proved beyond any doubt that you paid for the domain. There is no button allowing me to do that. The domain was bought by their account, which makes them the owner, which means only they have the ability to transfer the domain. You will need to sort this out with them.

Hey.
It was bought from my bank account so it is mine. But don’t worry I am looking at deleting the whole WordPress page and going with someone else. Thanks for help

You won’t be able to delete the page as long as that domain is still connected to it. Only the domain owner can disconnect it.
Who paid for the domain is irrelevant in this case. A domain belongs to the username account that bought it. If you provided your payment info to someone else and they used it to pay for the upgrade, that’s between you and them.

Ok cool. This is a huge disappointment because to my understanding as an admin I should be able to disconnect a domain whether I used ‘my credentials’ to buy it or not because I manage the site because I set it up. I don’t get how the domain ‘owner’ has more power than the owner of the page itself?
In this case I don’t want the domain to be renewed again? It will not renew automatically ? Because I do not authorize any more payments coming out of my account towards the maintenance of this domain. How can I make sure that it will not renew?

If you’re able to provide a transaction ID for a recent payment on the site I might be able to remove your payment info based on that, but I’ll have to run that by our billing team first.
Please confirm if you have a transaction ID like that. Don’t post it here, just confirm if you have it. Then I’ll send you an email so you can give it to me privately.
If you don’t have access to a receipt for a payment, you can still obtain an ID directly from PayPal if you own the card that was used for the payment:
Retrieving a PayPal Transaction ID
I don’t get how the domain ‘owner’ has more power than the owner of the page itself?
If you make someone else an admin on the site you give them the exact same permissions as you have. This is why you shouldn’t make someone an admin unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Note that while you can’t delete the site as long as the domain is connected to it, you can set the site to private so no one else can access it. You can do that under My Site ->Settings.
