Years ago i had the honor of being part of the team responsible for desiging, building and installing the large stained glass dome at Boldt Castle. I was excited about my role in it, and right after we finished the dome, I was scheduled to fly out to florence italy to finish my last semester at college. Before I left, I had created a wordpress website about the Boldt Castle, and the dome we built for it. Back then the internet was still pretty new, at least for me, and there were lots of free services to take advantage of. Each needed a password and other info to gain entrance to the account and edit, etc., Well, as the years went by, I had lost the information that I gave for the website mentioned. I had made several moves from state to state and never found that specific information to gain access to my webpage, and by now I really wanted to update it and take care of it, as I realized there was alot of interest in it. But never did i gain access to the account to make changes. I tried several times getting hold of staff at wordpress, but honestly, all that ever happened was I was told that I needed to furnish that information. It has now been 20 years, and i really beg you to help me gain access to my original account. I would love to finish it, maintain it and use it like my original intentions were. thank you for contacting me about my problem, Jerry. I did like you suggested and filled out the recovery form. I was under the impression that once I did that, it would be a beginning and that someone would take that information and use it to get hold of me to discuss this further. However, upon completion of the questions, i clicked the submit button and all it did was tell me that there wasn’t an account found in that name, because I was missing the same information that Im telling you, now, that I dont have any longer. I hope that you can understand my dilemma. when I first built the webpage, it was sort of done in a hurry with the expectation that I would continue on with it after i got home from school abroad, in florence italy. well, 9/11 occurred when i was there, and other life changing events made that desire not possible for years after. when i finally got around to wanting to access the site again because i received alot of traffic and comments in my guestbook, and because i renewed my interest in the page itself, but by then i could not find any of the older internet information. I used alot of free services back then and really didnt take too seriously the importance of saving the information Im wishing now that i should have saved. I also thought that the domain name I owned back then could be traced back to my name. i know somewhere there is a database of old web names and who owned them, so that could be yet another proof or evidence. also, i used a free e-card sender through the other webpage service that i used at ‘hypermart.net’ possibly they have a database that could prove that I was the one using that account and trace it back to this website… I mean, this could all be proven if only we could just converse and come up with something… thank you

Would you be willing to try to fill out the form again, but don’t add any extra words? For example, where it asks for the email, enter just the address you mentioned.
Also, if you don’t have any proofs of ownership, could you regain access to the email?

I can try. note that everything needed is over 20 years old and none of those notes even exist as far as I know, in my house… I havemoved from state to state several times and honestly dont know where to look for what is needed. I did go try to type in that email name and this is what i got:

so that is that with aol. lol, i wasn’t even sure that aol still existed. but nonetheless, i can’t access the old email account either. is there a database somewhere that tells who used what name? any other ways that I can prove to you who i am? photos, drivers liscense, etc? i would even sign whatever form your attorney could draw up ensuring that my statements are correct and true and that things are as I stated… I am trying, and very willing to do what I can…
also, i found out that hypermart.net doesnt even exist anymore :(

Ultimately and ideally you need access to underlining email address connected to WordPress.com.
If you’re able to try and recover any and all email addresses which may be use, that would be a step in the right direction.
With regards to the message from AOL, if the account is “deactivated” it may be possible to reactivate it, and this can be done as per:
If you suspect this is the underlining email address, and you’re able to access this, then there would be no harming in sending a password reset to see if it works: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
As good practice, it would also be worth retracing some steps with any other email addresses that you suspect may be in use with WordPress.com.
