Hello. awhile ago, on Feb 23, 2021 7:12 pm, I had started a thread to talk with you guys about getting help with accessing an old wordpress website that I created almost 20 years ago. I wanted to go back just now and ask another question and noticed that the ability to post further questions to it have been turned off for whatever reason. I had no idea there was a time limit on the conversation, so am hoping to ask the question here. I will post the thread number for you to get reacquainted with and when you reply to this message I will ask the question that I have. the post number is #3639392 and has 6 replies, the Latest reply from aleone89

Hi there, you’re referring to this forum thread. The reason the thread was closed is that our forum software automatically closes threads after a month of inactivity.

Did you follow Staff’s advice to try and recover the email addresses or fill out the account recovery form with only the information requested?

Just also note that you are posting in a public forum (you may be receiving this by email, but it is also publicly posted) so please do not share any sensitive information here.

    Hi @bctour01,

As we mentioned in the original thread, the only ownership proofs we can accept are the ones mentioned here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/.

If you’re not able to provide any of those, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you access the account.

Let me know if you have more questions about this.

I do have more questions. yes – I have exhausted any form of help regarding that website. its obvious that I wont be able to gain access to it or receive any help in getting in, but I am now wondering what it will take for me to set up that exact same template in another account, and get it to where I can rebuild it. I have tried starting another wordpress page, but first of all I haven’t been able to find that same exact template, and secondly, I really want to get this up and running soon, so im wondering if i’ll have to pay anything for either the help needed or the items i need in the page. thanks for your help

    Hi there:

First off, regarding the “template” – I’m assuming you mean the site’s theme? If so, the theme that site was using was retired a long time ago so it is no longer available for new sites.

Once you set up a new site, go to Customize -> Themes and scroll down to “Show All themes” and you can see all the themes we offer and narrow down the selections by the features you want. The theme you were inquiring about had three columns, so you can narrow down the themes with three columns by using column:three-columns in the search.

Regarding the content, you would need to recreate the content from the original site. We’re unable to provide assistance with recreating that site nor can we help with an export since you’re not able to prove ownership of the site in question.

A paid plan will give you access to priority support via email or if you have Premium or above, you can have live chat support. However, this is not meant to build the site for you, but to help you if you have questions on how to do something.

    I hope that clarifies things.

well, i have proven ownership of the old site by a preponderance of the evidence, just not the ones you’re asking for. You’re following ‘procedure’ and not veering from that at all. But that argument is moot at this point. I have created another site and am starting to build it, but am finding it difficult to understand, and none of the templates are as good as the original one that I used in my older webpage. I am however, seeing that I might be able to come very close using custom HTML, but am wondering if you know of anyone anywhere that I could pay to create a few pages that I want to use and could then use as templates to copy and paste into other, new pages of the new website? Or is this all part of what is covered under one of your paid plans? Please advise as Im not against this possibility. Thank you for your time and patience with this matter.

The theme that your old site was using is indeed no longer available, but we do have hundreds of other themes available: https://wordpress.com/themes

If you’d like to pay us to build the site for you, we do have options at https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/
