I need to start completely fresh but keep my address

    Ok, so during my testing and learning time I think I have confused my template so much that it does not know what its original functions are anymore. I need to start completely fresh. Completely. From choosing a theme. But I absolutely want to keep my site name ‘dinnerdebateclub’. I’m afraid to try to do it myself because – obviously! – I do not know what I’m doing. :) There was a button that said ‘get help’, so here I am.

    Hi there, I don’t find any content on your website that needs to be deleted so you can start fresh. Were you able to do this yourself in the meantime? Regardless, if there is anything from your side, you can do so following the guide to emptying your site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/ The one thing you do not want to do to “start over” is completely delete your site.

    In order to set up the static front page on your site similar to the demo site, you can follow the guide at https://wordpress.com/theme/sophisticated-business

    Let us know how that goes.

    Thank you for your reply! You didn’t see it because apparently, I had unpublished it. It is published again now. I deleted the page according to instructions this morning. So now it is gone. The general theme seems to still be there. But it is different. I guess you mean that if I want it to look like the original template I would have to build it myself? And add apps and things? To me, that seems like climbing Mount Everest. Is there any way to get it back to the very beginning? Like when I first signed up and I just had to fill in my content in a pre-set template?

    Hello again, today I see the front page on your site whereas yesterday there was nothing found.

    I guess you mean that if I want it to look like the original template I would have to build it myself? And add apps and things? To me, that seems like climbing Mount Everest.

    All new sites are using themes created especially for the block editor and while yours won’t look exactly like the demo right out of the box, the theme showcase page is there to guide you to recreate the look for the static front page.

    Is there any way to get it back to the very beginning? Like when I first signed up and I just had to fill in my content in a pre-set template?

    I am not sure that it is possible for Staff to “reset” your site for you, so I’ve tagged this thread for their attention. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

    Hello Justjennifer!

    I’m sorry to be so confused and confusing. :) I truly appreciate having gotten responses to my questions. Figured out how to deleted the page. Discovered that it didn’t take me back to the same convenient template. Then tried to recreate. Tore my hair. Cried a bit haha. Found a button to restore the old page. Found a working way to make a new cover photo where the text was white (and not black as in my messed up version).

    Last thing missing was the contact form, and after having searched for a couple of hours I found it litterally 5 minutes ago – under “Jet pack”!

    So I think I’m all set now.

    Holy cow, I thought giving birth was pretty stressful. But at least I could relax and trust that “the powers in charge” knew how to get it done. Having to rely on my own brain to create a website is so much more stressful.

    Again, thank you for being there!
