I need to take my site down temporarily, can you help me do that?

  My site was hacked and I need to take it down until I get the site fixed and back to normal. Is it possible to take it down for a short time and how dow I do that?

  To take your site down temporarily, from your admin panel go to Settings -> Reading. Then in the Site Visibility section select “I would like my site to be private”. Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

  When you’re ready for your site to be live again, return to that same page and select one of the other two Site Visibility options.

  You can make your site private while you work on it. In your dashboard under Settings -> Reading you can choose Site Visibility Options. Just select

  I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose

  I received an email on April 21st stating that my site was automatically upgraded to WordPress 4.1.2. Shortly after, my site was hacked. Coincidence? or cause? My host provider is working on resolving the issue (I hope). Does anyone have any other suggestions on best practices for getting the site up quickly?

  Your site is not hoisted by WordPress.COM. You are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
