I need to transfer my WordPress site to another host

My friend’s domain is connected with the host PowWeb.com and I need to move my WordPress to my host. I am having great difficulty figuring out how to do this and PowWeb’s support team was of very little assistance.

Please help me to figure out how to connect this WordPress site with my friend’s domain.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://naggarlaw.com/ is not hosted by WordPress.COM and we do not provide support for it.

    naggarlaw.com is hosted by iPage
    WHOIS
    IP Address: 65.254.250.103
    Name Servers:
    ns3.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns1.wordpress.com

Without doubt you are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG and need support for that site in the future and if you do not have a WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

    Register a WordPress.ORG account https://wordpress.org/support/register.php
    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

    Thank you for your reply!

NaggarLaw.com was hosted by PowWeb.com but after learning that I would be unable to transfer http://naggarlaw.wordpress.com to the PowWeb hosting today I purchased Domain Mapping from WordPress.com Receipt ID: 13171487

I have followed the instructions for changing the DNS nameservers to the WordPress nameservers but perhaps the changes have not yet taken effect?

    I really appreciate your assistance

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers

Although naggarlaw.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Your name servers are as follows:

    NS1.POWWEB.COM
    NS2.POWWEB.COM

If you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above.

To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

After that is done note that it can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. it’s not uncommon for the last place to flush their DNS caches to be your own ISP. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during this stage is to be patient. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at naggarlaw.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.

Ok great thank you, it should be done- hopefully the changes will have taken effect by the morning. I really appreciate your help.

Yes, you just need to point your domain to PowWeb name server in order to host your domain.

Thank you very much! It looks like everything worked out after all!
