  If you are comfortable with WordPress, then you can export your content from your WordPress.com site and import it into your new self-hosted site:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

  Another option is Guided Transfer:

  Thank you for your reply! I’m totally ignorant about this stuff and I am not very good at WordPress. I did manage to get my site redirected to my new site and now my blog is missing altogether. I wanted to go the route of the guided transfer but it appears that in order to do that you have to be hosting with one of their four recommended servers… Do you know if this is true? The host I’m using is not one of them. Mine does accept wp installation though.
