I need your help in choosing a theme.
-
I want to find a theme that enables me to post different content into different sections… Like they do in decent magazine websites. IE. I don’t just want a blog that you have categories for, and which has one very long blog page with some menu options to divide it at the top, I want a whole website. Do any of your themes offer this, premium or otherwise? It’s difficult to tell from the showcase. Can you share your expertise? I am currently using Misty Look but it’s not attractive or sophisticated enough for the particular website I am working on. With thanks.

Well, a couple of points first.
Pages are a form of content, like posts, so they can’t actually contain posts.
Instead, you could utilize your categories and category archives for a similar effect.
However, instead of having a big blog page upfront, you can set any page as your front page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
With that, you can sort of hide the blog page from view and rely entirely on your category archive pages.
As for a good theme, it sounds like you’re looking for a Magazine style theme: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/subjects/magazine/
I’m partial myself to The Morning After, Headlines, and Traction.

Hi – how do I see a demo of the different colours for the TRACTION theme? Right now it only displays in black and I’d like something a little lighter and friendlier…
Also, if I change my theme, will my content automatically be transferred across?
-
I’m sorry but there is not a way to see a demo of the different colors for the Traction theme, you can check your theme in the default color using the preview option on your Appearance → Themes page or you can take a look at the demo linked on the theme showcase page: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/traction/
If you change your theme, the content will stay as is and just the theme will update.
-
I found some examples of the different colors in case that helps:

Oh, so the background remains black?
Can you advise which magazine theme would allow me to display my logo in the header?
I really like Traction… is there a similar magazine theme with sophisticated features which has the option of a paler background?
-
Hi there,
You could use Traction in conjunction with the Custom Design upgrade to make changes to the background color:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/If you take this route, we’ll be more than happy to assist with the CSS necessary to make this change.
Otherwise, you might check out these magazine themes which are popular and allow you to use a custom header image:

Thank you very much.
Is it possible to insert a logo into the header of this theme?
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/magazine/ -
I have now bought the Magazine theme.
Tell me, how come I can’t see the secondary menu? I have updated it. Can you get back ASAP.
-
Hello … ignore the question before… Have worked it out.
BUT in Magazine theme, I can’t see a ‘Visual’ option when I edit or write a post, and it does not seem to be displaying the photos I insert. Can you help?
-
Can you also tell me what the purple colour is that the Magazine theme uses, and how I can insert a logo into the header??
-
And lastly…
What is the pink colour the Magazine theme uses…
And Can you tell me why 2 photos of the same thing are now being displayed on each of my entries?Thank you.
-
If you cannot see the Visual tab when editing a post, then it may be turned off for your account. Go to Users → Personal Settings and make sure the option that says “Disable the visual editor when writing” is unchecked.
-
I checked your Appearance → Theme Options page, and you currently have the “Magazine Pink” color scheme selected. The color code for the “Magazine Pink” is #c62765. The color code for the “Magazine Purple” is #8827c7.
-
To insert a logo into the header in the Magazine theme, the best option may be to simply build the logo into the header image so you can upload one header image and the logo is automatically there. Another way would be to use CSS to replace the header image or replace some other element on the page with a logo. In looking at how the Magazine layout is setup, including the logo inside the header image might look the best. Another way to insert a logo is to use an image widget in the sidebar. Could you please re-post this question in the CSS forums and include information about exactly where you would like to place a logo? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization/

Two photos of the same thing are appearing because you have set a featured image for those posts and you have also turned on the option to “Include the Featured Image” on your Appearance → Theme Options page.
-
-
You have to pick between whether you want to display featured images (the theme options setting) or manually embed the images in the post. If you do both, the images will appear twice.
