I need your help on how to show my latest posts the way id like it

  Hi guys,

  I’m am building a website where we want to show the latest news(posts) in a particular way. I have searched the entire internet but i cannot find a solution.

  I hope you can help me!
  We would like to display our posts the way this website and this website are showing their daily news. It is the block displaying the day and below are the news items which are mostly text lines with a timestamp, a category thumbnail and the ammount of comments.

  We have used the wp latest post widget and a lot of other widgets but none of them allow us to show it the way we want it to.
