I opened a blog in error and it is interferring with the blog I actually want.

Hi, I have been having problems accessing my blog easily. This morning I spoke with someone at Geek Squad who had a look round and he found that I have got my domain pointing to the wrong place. He said to tell you that I own creativeincullompton.co.uk and it is supposed to display the blog at tricia596.com but it is displaying a different blog that I appear to have set up in error – Is there a way to change it. Heeeeelp Please.
Bye the way, I also own the domain cullomptoncrafts.co.uk but it has no blog attached yet. That may be in the future. Tricia

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no site at tricia596.com. Do you mean your WPcom site at tricia596.wordpress.com?

The blog that you have set up in error at creativeincullompton.co.uk doesn’t seem to be hosted by WordPress.com. It appears to be hosted at 123-reg.co.uk

If you want to use your own domain name with your WordPress.com site, you will need to purchase the annually renewable Domain Mapping upgrade. Read this through first to the end: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ and then follow these instructions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Thank you, I have now done the mapping, paid my fee to do that, followed all the steps, etc. The blog handles much smoother now. However, I don’t know how to find the blog. What I mean is, if I (or anyone looking for this particular blog) goes to Google and types in ‘creative in cullompton’ they don’t get a link to my blog. Even if they type it into the browser as creativeincullompton.co.uk, what comes up is a certificate warning saying that the certificate was issued for another web site. Is this because the mapping transfer hasn’t had time to take effect yet or is there something else I need to do? Or, am I doing something wrong. I would like to tell people that the blog is in existence and this is how they can look at it. Tricia

I earlier visited creativeincullompton.co.uk (empty site) without problem, but now I get a redirect loop in Chrome (latest version).

It does take up to 72 hours for DNS changes to propagate through the internet, but I will tag this for Staff assistance to check that everything is set up correctly in your domain dashboard.

Please be patient while waiting for them to reply as it is a holiday weekend in most places.

Thank you. I can do patience. I have just had a look round and find that I can no longer access the blog that I have been working on. Fortunately I made copies of the ABOUT page and my first blog post before I started this latest bit. I guess I will have to start over.

On another issue, can the title tricia569 be changed? I have no idea how that came into being and I really don’t like it. I know I must have clicked on something, but it was a mistake. T

    I meant tricia596. T

I guess I will have to start over.

Please be patient and wait for Staff to look in. Each time you add to this thread it pushes it further down in their queue, so don’t, unless you have additional information to give them. :)

    DON’T DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t “start over” your old content is safe – at this point many people start deleting things and their base blog and contents get deleted for good and other very bad things happen.

Please wait for the staff to double check what is happening

Don’t worry, y’all, I am not planning on doing anything until I get the nod. T

Thanks auxclass! I’ve removed the tag for staff input on the domain mapping setup questions. :)

    @tricia596,

On another issue, can the title tricia569 be changed? I have no idea how that came into being and I really don’t like it. I know I must have clicked on something, but it was a mistake.

That username was set up when you registered your site, but changing your username is a path fraught with trouble. We cannot count the number of people who have come through the forums after trying to change their username and inadvertently deleting their website as a part of the process. Once deleted, it’s gone.

You can, however, change your Display Name/Nickname, which will appear as the author on your site, by following these instructions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/#change-display-name-nickname

Regardless, your “real” username (tricia596) will show up when you post to the forums.

The site tricia596.wordpress.com correctly maps to creativeincullompton.co.uk where the last post I see is from 17 April.

I’m not sure I understand what you need help with now.
