I own the domain www.JoeArtistWriter.com, but ……

    I own the domain http://www.JoeArtistWriter.com, but I bought it years ago, and don’t know how to turn it into a wordpress.

    I have https://joeartistwriter.wordpress.com, but would like to pay the 18 yearly and and drop the wordpress from the title. How do I do this?

    Hi there, Joe!

    There are two ways to go about this:

    1. You can map (or point) the existing domain from the domain name provier, more on that here

      2. or;

    2. You can transfer the domain to your exisitng WordPress.com account to easily manage domain and hosting. See steps here

    Hi there,

    Please note that to use that domain here on WordPress.com, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our paid plans.

    The $18 cost you mention is only if you buy a domain directly from us, and then the domain will also just redirect to the site, not actually show in the browser address bar. To have the site actually appear on the domain requires a paid plan.

    To use an existing domain with WordPress.com you need the domain mapping upgrade, or you need to transfer the domain registration to us, and both of those also require a paid plan.
