I published my site but there is an edit link on it – so anybody can edit it.

No one can edit your site unless they are logged-in to your account.
If you log out, you won’t see “edit.”
You only see the option to edit when you are logged-in. It makes it easy for you to edit your blog whenever you are logged in.
