I purchased a domain from another hosting company, and now WordPress…

I had purchased the domain http://www.cindynalex.com through GoDaddy.com over the summer. I hired a ”web developer” to design my site. They ultimately set up my sit through your WordPress. I have since taken it down, deleted all content from wordpress & canceled by billing accounts & products, etc as I want to keep everything through my GoDaddy stuff. GoDaddy still shows that I have the URL, I’ve designed a site and have published it through them – yet, when I type in the URL – it takes me to your site with a ”cindyandalex.wordpress is no longer available.” Why is it still showing wordpress and linking it to you when I’ve deleted all content, my account, etc?

I’m very unhappy about this and would like this rectified immediately.

Please contact my business manager: Amanda Rupley [phone # redacted by mod] or email me at (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Thank you!
    Cindy Davis

There is no phone support here. We deal with those who have username accounts, not business managers, unless they own the username account in question.

Staff can remove the domain mapping for you. I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

It looks like cindynalex.com still has the name servers pointed to WordPress.COM – you need to point them back to your account / blog at your new host (Godaddy?) – as soon as you change the name servers and the changes propagate across the internet things will work correctly – nothing the staff here can do to help – you just need to fix the name servers at your Registrar

@auxclass – thank you! How do I change the name servers? Do I do that through WordPress or through GoDaddy?

Thank everyone for the advice. I’m new to this WordPress stuff and had someone scam me out of $500 to “build” me a site when really all they did was a use a WordPress template to create a blog. My biz manager spent all night last night working on building a new site through GoDaddy and then we couldn’t get it live.

I appreciate all of the info, though! :-)

You need to change the nameservers over at GoDaddy.

And $500 isn’t bad if the site actually works, particularly if it’s one of those themes that takes hours to configure properly. I have a client who is on the hook for $15,000 for a slightly-adapted template site. It’s only six pages, too.
