Hi there,
Sure! All you’ll need to do is update the name servers with your domain registrar (Wix.com). This article explains how:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
The name servers for WordPress.com are:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
If you’re not sure how to change them, please contact your registrar for assistance.
Once you have updated the name servers, it may take up to 48 hours for the domain to be pointed to your WordPress.com site.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Hi zcchadwick,
I’m afraid the IP route isn’t an option. Because Wix doesn’t allow their users to point Wix registered domains to outside Name servers, and because WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers, I’m afraid the only good way to use your domain with your WordPress.com site is to transfer the domain to another registrar and from there point the name servers to WordPress.com using the instructions Grace gave you.

We support a wide range of registrars, here’s a list of the most popular ones.

I’d probably go with BlueHost or Tucows Domains, but its absolutely up to you.

I understand that pointing to an IP address is Wix’s solution to this problem, but we don’t do that because even static IP addresses change on occasion and when that happens, domains that use the IP address is the way Wix is suggesting break. We don’t want that to happen, so we are recommending you transfer your domain to a registrar that will allow you point your domain to WordPress.com domain servers. Here are the instructions from the Wix site on how to do that:
