waynedupree.com….through WordPress and I have two name servers
NS1.NEWSNINJA2012.COM
NS2. NEWSNINJA2012.COM…that I need to register. Can someone help me?

Hi Wayne,
Sure thing. You can access the Domain Manager for your domains via this link:
https://newsninja2012.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Toward the bottom, in the drop down, select the “Make Changes to DNS” option and set a password. After you set it, select Make Changes to DNS option again and copy the Customer Number then click the “Manage Your Domains” link.
Click on the NewsNinja2012.com entry. On the page that loads, click on Manage under “Host names”
You can add both NS1 and NS2.newsninja2012.com there. You’ll only need the IP addresses that HostGator should have provided.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know!

Oops!
Sorry, the page you requested does not exist. -
Hi Wayne,
What link did you click on to get the 404 message? I tried myself and couldn’t reproduce the error.
Thanks,

When I click on “manage my domains link” i got a login and password which I entered and that was my result page

Thanks, Wayne. I’m checking with our domain management service to determine what could be going on. I appreciate your patience; this isn’t typical at all.

thank you
I am trying to move
newsninja2012.com
waynedupree.comjust trying to register these new name servers

Hi Wayne,
I’m sorry for the delay. Everything is back working again as expected. My instructions from earlier will get you to the page to add the new nameservers (a.k.a. host names).
Thanks again for your patience and my apologies for the hassle.

I just want to make sure that I did the right thing. This is from my hosts website
Changing your domain’s DNS is not the same thing as registering name servers. You will not be able to change your site’s DNS to private name servers until your private name servers are registered with your domain registrar. Some registrars don’t even have an option for you to create private name servers on your own. In many cases, emailing them to do it is the only option.
I guess my question to you is “the information that you gave me which I did, does that register the name servers?”
-
I’ve logged into your domain manager and that appears correct for registering private nameservers. I believe you’re all set.
Nameserver and DNS changes can take a short time to become effective, so HostGator may not be picking up on it yet.
Depending on HostGator’s instructions, they may advise you to change the nameservers on your account (a few lines above where you clicked to register the new nameservers), but that’s something their team would need to confirm with you.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Cheers!

I did what you told me but the nameservers are not registered still.
I talked to the company it seems registered the domain names and they said that nothing was in their account for these two domain names
newsninja2012.com
waynedupree.comYesterday when I didn’t think I was getting any help I tried to transfer the account but didn’t go all the way through with transferring it. The domain registrar thinks that might have had something to do with not seeing any records. I really do not want to transfer it, I just want to register the private nameserver. Can you see if it’s trying to transfer and cancel that action?
Do you have any suggestions?
It looks like the registration of these private nameservers is the only thing holding up the show.

Hi Wayne,
First, I would suggest patience. DNS/nameserver changes, by the nature of how they exist technically on the Internet, can take a few hours to be effective. DNS records are cached on servers globally, including often on your own computer, with set time periods until they expire (and thus refresh). The spec allows for three days, though most are set somewhere between 2 and 12 hours.
Your private name servers are registered (NS1.NEWSNINJA2012.COM and NS2.NEWSNINJA2012.COM). For the domains you would like to use those new nameservers, you would additionally need to change the nameservers for the domains you’d wish to use them.
It’s akin to registering a PO Box (registering private name servers, which is done) and then changing your address to point folks to start using the PO Boxes.
I’m happy to handle this last piece for you since it’s been a struggle, though I’d like to confirm the following:
You’d like newsninja2012.com and waynedupree.com (both with nameservers set to NS743.HOSTGATOR.COM and NS744.HOSTGATOR.COM currently) to NS1.NEWSNINJA2012.COM and NS2.NEWSNINJA2012.COM, which you created earlier for 198.154.215.234 and 198.154.215.235 respectively.
Correct?
If so, please ensure that the DNS settings at the new NEWSNINJA2012.COM nameservers have any e-mail MX records set correctly (if any) as any e-mail sent to addresses at your domains would be impacted if they’re not ready to go.
Regarding transfers, at this point, I don’t see them as pending, though the “winning” registrar initiates the transfer process and can take a couple of days for it to hit us. It can still be declined, but not by us yet.
Please let me know if we’re not on the same page. Thanks for your patience.

thanks for responding. I shall wait.
The way that I should be able to tell if it’s working is by pinging the new nameserver correct?
-
It depends on how Hostgator has the servers setup that you’ve associated to the ns1 and ns2 nameservers; it may ping or may not.
It appears that the change is progressing across the Internet well now: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/newsninja2012.com

I am looking at it and I am happy. Do I replace the hostgator name servers yet? I haven’t been back in there to check.
-
I went in and made the change for you. Between our outage and the back and forth, I wanted to save you a few minutes :-)
