I ready started blog. How can I install a local copy on my PC?

    Hi, I recently started on WordPress, and I am no expert at coding.
    I did not initially install a local copy of WP on my PC. I only discovered the wisdom of doing that, this week. I installed XAMPP and exactly followed the steps as they were described to install WP manually. It did not work.
    The local host seem to work. I created a WP datebase, but when I follow the the link http://localhost/wp/ I get to a page that looks like nothing, two links on it. One for the main directory of the local host and the other for WordPress. I follow the wordpress link and get a message that it cannot establish a connection to the database. So what now?
    Yes, I did extract the WordPress files to the htdocs folder in XAMPP and changed wp-config folder as the website I was looking at said to do.
    Although I now have two blogs, only is really active. The other one is still in planning phase — and might be for some time. Is too late to install locally?

    For your local host install

    The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

    Thank you letting me know, although it confuses me even more since the url is: http://purplelizardnz.wordpress.com/.

    I will try alternatives.

    http://purplelizardnz.wordpress.com/ – is hosted on WordPress.COM and not your local host install – questions about http://purplelizardnz.wordpress.com/ can be ask here

    You might have the same content on them, but we do not support local host installs here
