I really don’t know where to start…

    I don’t have much that I want to do other than change the color and the text for my blog right now. Then I can ease my way into this is really overwhelming. I appreciate the talent it takes to do this even more.

    Can someone help me with changing color and text?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    You have to purchase the CSS customization in order to change the color and text of the blog.
    I’m not sure what exactly about the text you want to changed or what part of the blog you want recolored so it’s really hard to give specifics.

    Hey, I purchased the CSS. I would like to have a blue or black blackground with Arial font for the body of all my text.

    Ugh. If you do not already know CSS, do not purchase the CSS upgrade. There is no official support for it; you are basically on your own, which is why it’s only recommended for advanced users. Also, it is not always necessary to just change text colour and background or header. If you’ve purchased it and do not know how to use CSS, I’d suggest you contact staff and ask for your money back.

    Well, I’m up for learning it. I know it will take time. I just want to put these two things on my blog so that I’ll have something to work with.

    I dove in with no knowledge—course it nearly drove me insane but in a fun kind of way. I practiced on a dummy blog before moving it to my real pride and joy. Start a blog just for practice. You don’t need the CSS upgrade for the dummy blog. You can hit the preview button a million times on the dummy blog to see what you did. I also read all the suggested schooling stuff recommended for CSS from the forums here. Take a look at what I just did with
    Theme: Black Letterhead by Ulysses Ronquillo. Seems like that’s what you want to do. I bet you can figure it out. And as you can see—I got in a pickle with something and sacredpatch helped me. The folks on here will help if get it 99% figured out yourself. They won’t walk you through major problems but if you get in a small bind, they’ll usually help. You have to get to the point of knowing what you need help with. So PRACTICE–it’s fun.

    Dive in and learn—it’s fun. Good luck.

    Then your best bet is the references at the top of the CSS forum and various online tutorials. It’s not hard to learn, apparently, but it does take work.

    I don’t think I said the word fun enough ;)

  • Unknown's avatar

    And posting only once or twice every four or five months won’t really allow you enough practice to develop any serious knowledge about how wordpress.com works. Much less CSS.

  • Unknown's avatar

    It’s not that hard, and most is common sense, if you looked at the CSS code. First you’re going to need to find an online hex color finder to obtain the color code for the color of blue you want. Enter that color in the background class where you see #fff below, I already added arial font in there, and just add it to the CSS code and you should be good.
    body { background: #fff; color: #333; font: 62.5% arial; text-align: center; }
    but yeah, theres no official forum and in some cases with questions as easy as this, you might be able to find the answer by searching through the CSS customization forum here.

    HTH ~ have fun learning ^.^

    And one or twice every 4 or 5 months will mean search engines will not pay any attention to you and you will lose any page rank you might have had.

    Props to aw1923 for helping him exactly with what he needed. haha, no hard feelings anyone.

    I want to thank every one for their support. I put that code and it still doesn’t show up. I do have more post in store.

    universeofbecome,

    The code in your custom CSS looks like this:

    body {
    background::#333333;
    font:62.5% arial;
    text-align:center;
    }

    There change of color background doesn’t work because The background definition has two semicolons when it should only have one, like this: “background: #333;”

    Also, you’ll need to modify the “#container” definition for your blog to look right. Try this, hopefully this will make it look the way you want:

    body {
    background: #333;
    font: normal 62.5% Arial;
    }

    #container {
    background: #fff;
    overflow: hidden;
    padding: 0 10px;
    }

    HTH
