I just want to change the url on the old blog to be the new domain.

    Hi there!

I am happy to help you map broadripplegroup.com. You mention that you want to use that domain for the site danielandwelsh.com.

Danielandwelsh.com, however, is not a WordPress.com site. It is a self-hosted site that is not affiliated with us at WordPress.com. Therefore, I don’t have access to that site’s files or name servers.

If you want broadripplegroup.com to “point” to danielandwelsh.com, you’ll have to adjust your name servers at your domain registrar, and add mapping with that site’s web host.

However, if you have a WordPress.com site which you want mapped, I’m happy to assist. Please let me know if I can help further, and if so, let me know which domain name you want connected to which WordPress.com site.

Thanks much. Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks for your response!

Up until I (attempted) to change the site url to direct to broadripplegroup.com, I was logging into http://www.danielandwelsh.com/wp-admin/ to administer the account. The theme is not a wordpress theme, but it is hosted by wordpress.com.

After I made the change to the site url, my login stopped working. I requested a password change, which goes to my business partner, and he said he was going to look into it.

    Hello there again!

http://www.danielandwelsh.com/ is a site that is not hosted on WordPress.com. It appears as if it is a website that is hosted on GoDaddy. You may have been running a WordPress site, using GoDaddy as a server. This is called a self-hosted site.

When you log into WordPress.com sites, your administrative access would look like this:
    broadripplegroup.wordpress.com/wp-admin
Notice that it contains wordpress.com in the URL, while danielandwelsh.com/wp-admin does not.

So, the question is, would you like to map broadripplegroup.com to a WordPress.com site? Or are you still hoping to use the self-hosted site?

I notice that danielandwelsh.com does go to your self-hosted site, but when the links are clicked, they go to your WordPress.com site, broadripplegroup.wordpress.com/ . Is this meant to happen, or are you trying to achieve something else?

It would help me to help you if I could understand exactly what your goal is. I’m still unclear as we’re dealing with multiple domain names, a WordPress.com site, and a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

When a visitor types broadripplegroup.com into their address bar, what do you want them to see?

When a visitor types danielandwelsh.com into their address bar, what do you want them to see?

When a visitor types broadripplegroup.wordpress.com into their address bar, what do you want them to see?

I’ll help you clear everything up, once we’re both entirely sure of the path that needs to be taken! Looking forward to hearing your feedback on my questions. Thank you very much.
