I recently let a WP dot com domain expire; how can I keep it?

  I recently let a WP dot com domain expire. (It tells me to ‘contact support’ and doesn’t even let me extend it now.) (I now regret clicking the button that more or less tells wordpress.com to relinquish it.)

  I would quite like to keep just the domain name; how can I register with a different provider. (just so I can keep it in reserve)

  I ran a WHOIS and it says:
  Expires On 2019-01-03
  Registrar Name: Wild West Domains, LLC

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
