I screwed up: Tools|Import|WordPress not working. Comments not working.

  This is not a popular site, so no rush.

  Besides, I think I screwed it up myself. I’ve played with EVERY setting imaginable. Worse, I believe, is that I’ve been writing my (few) posts offline in the WordPress Export Format and importing them with Tools|Import|Wordpress.

  Now, I can’t import any more posts. I am stuck with the message “Import WordPress Processing…”. It has been well over 24 hours.

  Also, no one (i.e. neither my sister nor I) can comment. I’ve tried several browsers on different OSes — my sister slacked and only tried one browser on one OS. Anyway, the “Post Comment” changes to “Posting Comment…” and just hangs there.

  I am sure that I did this to myself. And I promise to think about not doing it to myself again (though I probably will). Thank you for any help!

  Hi there. The importer gets stuck sometimes. I’ll tag this for staff to unstick it for you. Please be patient while waiting for their reply.

  Re. the comment issue, as you’ve tested it on several browsers the browser might not be the issue, but it won’t hurt to clear your browser cache and cookies and see if that helps. Also try resetting your modem/router. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  If that doesn’t help, wait until a staff member resets the importer and try again. If it still won’t work then, let us know here.

  Thank you for the response.

  Comments are working now. I installed and tried a new browser (Opera Mobile on Android). They are also working in my other main browsers. It was probably user error. Will ask my sister to try again.

  I’ll wait patiently for the import tool to get unstuck. I’m honestly in no rush and think I broke it myself.

  I reset the importer and it appears your last job did complete, the importer just got stuck in “processing.”

  If you prefer offline editing there are number of tools that are more reliable than running an import job for each post:

  Thank you. Looks like it’s back to normal. I should have mentioned that the last job imported successfully.

  And thanks for the link! Except for the Android app, I didn’t know offline editors existed. You may have just saved me a bunch of coding. Another similar link:
