I sent a post via email and it didn't work?

My post-by-Email address is: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
I was so excited to try a post like that but my high hopes have been dashed to the ground and trampled on!

It may have been far too basic that it got lost because I didn’t do anything but use the above-mentioned address, put the Title in the subject line, wrote 1 sentence and pasted 1 pic within the email.

Where did I screw up? Sometimes I feel soooo stupid!

    Thanks for your speedy reply!

Well, I got a different address and my next attempt actually worked…partially. I’d pasted an image in the bottom of the email (similar to the sample shown). The image, however, didn’t show in the post. I had to go online and add it again.

Also, it came over as uncatagorized. So, at this point, I need help in a couple of areas:
    1. How do I get an image to actually show in the post (rather than a little image box)?
    2. How do I make sure that it’s catagorized correctly (rather than being uncatagorized)?
    Your help will be appreciated!

  • 1. Make sure that you attache the image rather than just paste it in: http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/#attachments

    2. You can specify categories with the category shortcode: http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/#specifying-the-category

Yes, I saw that about the category. However, we’re not told WHERE to put that code. Do I put the short code at the end of the Title or in the first line of the actual post…or where? That’s way too vague for someone that’s just learning (@64!)

Also, the sample that’s shown on the support page has text on 1 line then a photo right below it. I was trying to emulate that look in what I did. So, your instructions aren’t clear. (A retired teacher notices things like that, macmanx.) You must give the details in such a way that, IF they follow both the directions AND the example shown, you’d likely have fewer questions like mine.

    Thanks!

  • You can put the shortcode anywhere in the email’s content. I usually put it at the very end.

The screenshot shows Apple’s Mail application, which displays attached images inline. Below that are the instructions for attaching an image.
