I signed up to pay for domain and hosting through siteground but I would like to just use wordpress
-
If I stop my subscription for hosting on siteground, will my full website be deleted? I just realized that I don’t want to pay that much but would just like to have a free blog. Will my content remain and just the domain change to a .wordpress? I accidentally paid for the domain for the next year but am considering letting the hosting services expire.
This is for the blog: begloballygrateful.com
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,
If you stop paying Siteground to host your site, they’ll delete your site from their servers, yes. That is how web hosting works.
Your site would only change to a .wordpress.com address if it was hosted with us – we’re a completely different hosting provider from Siteground, and we have no control over your site you currently have with them.
If you want to host your site with us on our free plan, you can migrate it here. You can see the available options here:

Thank you! How do I reach the new .wordpress.com site before my hosting expires in order to complete the transfer?
-
You’ll want to create a site first:
Then you can use the steps above to start transferring. Just note on a free site, we’d be able to transfer your content but not your theme and plugins.
I hope that helps!

So sorry for all the questions, if I sign up for a paid personal plan, can I then import my themes and plugins?
Thank you
-
No. You’ll need to upgrade to the Business or eCommerce plan to be able to use plugins and third-party themes.

Thank you!
I completed the export/import but I cannot see any of the posts. Where can I find the content that was transfered?
-
Please let me know the address of the site you exported the content and also the address of the site you imported them.
