I started a free blog with wordpress using my email and then I started another self hosted blog usin

Hi, I recently started a free blog using WordPress, however, I decided the a self-hosted blog best suit my needs so I started one of those instead. I have used the same email address for both, however, I deleted my free blog. A problem is now occurring when I try to add plug-ins, I am trying to activated Akismet and when I try to log in with my self-hosted blog information (I have used the same email but different passwords), it tells me my password is incorrect, so I click the ’forgot password’ link and I get an email referring to my old free blog, even though I have deleted it. So it is not letting me sign in with my email and password for my self-hosted blog even though I had no issues installing Jetpack with this information. Could someone please let me know what is going on and how I can permanently delete anything to do with my free blog so it does not interfere with mu self-hosted blog. Thank you

You mention using Jetpack so I assume you want to still own the WordPress.com account needed for login. Akismet is an Automattic company as is WordPress.com blogs so iirc the same login you use for Jetpack would work for Akismet but I am not 100% on that. Your self hosted blog will have different login information than your WordPress.com hosted blog login information which I believe you understand but I believe where the confusion lay is that your self-hosted login info will not work with other Automattic services (including JetPack and Akismet). So to clarify:
Your self-hosting login information will only work with:
    http://YourDomain.com/wp-admin/
    and not with:
Any WordPress.com service or Automattic service.

But…. Using JetPack/Akismet on your self hosted installation you will need:
Your self-hosted login information for administration
Your WordPress.com login information for Jetpack and Akismet.

Personally I use alternatives for both and have for a long while but someone with more recent knowledge can hopefully shed more light.
