I still am not able to follow anyone new

A few months back I was unaware there was a limit to follow and followed too many people at once. I am still unable to do so. I understand that the limit is place to stop spamming behavior, but that wasn’t my intention. I was just trying to figure out how to get readers and thought it was like Twitter. It would be greatly appreciated if I could be allowed to follow new people that are reading my posts so I can interact better. Thanks.

Thanks so much. I tried following a few people who commented on my posts and it doesn’t seem to let me. I click follow and then when I refresh, it doesn’t show the change. Does it take a moment?
As apparently this post can be seen by others, I just want to be clear on the situation so perhaps this doesn’t happen to someon else. When I first built my website I went through and followed a bunch of people that were doing similar content to build a community and a readership. I did not know there was a limit, it is not stated clearly and no one will tell me what this limit is. At first, I noticed it stopped me from following more, but it didn’t tell me that I had passed this limit and that there would be negative consequences. It just said I couldn’t follow anyone else at the moment and to check back later. So, a little later, I continued.
There are no strikes here. When I found couldn’t follow anyone more, I reached out to WP staff and it was then I found out about the limit. It was not my intention to violate policy. I believed the system worked like Twitter and by following others, others would reciprocate and follow me. The limit appears to be a secret. You can’t use the strike system if people don’t know the rules of the game. I haven’t made an infraction since. I’ve been through this before with other staff and they also said they would turn my ability to follow back on. This was months ago, but it never started working again. I was patient, but there are people interacting with me that I would like to follow.
I have like 78 followers and legitamtely post weekly. Clearly, I am not a spammer. I understand the policy now, I am still trying to build a readership just like all your users. If I am unable to interact with others on this platform, then what would be the reason I would keep using it? I originally was going to start using the paid version with a domain, but with how this situation has been treated and with the scolding I recieve from the staff, I’ve held off. I’m not trying to be difficult here, I just feel that I am being punished. I understand that you must deal with a lot of difficult people, and I appreciate that, but I don’t think I am one of them.
