I still own my domain name, but my mapping has expired.

While I rebuild my site (delete everything and start over) I have no need for mapping. I own the domain – yet I cannot view my site as a wordpress page – how to I bypass this?
qito.wordpress.com
Thank you

Hi there,
I just removed that expired domain mapping from your site, so you can go back to using the site’s free address: http://qito.wordpress.com/
If you want to add the mapping again later on, you can do that from the Domains page.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Sorry to ask again. I have http://www.qito.co.uk forwarded to https://qito.wordpress.com – yet the page takes me to a page saying
“Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.”
Thank you

Why should I have to pay to forward my domain to any site, wordpress or otherwise? Surely that’s the whole point of forwarding?

When your domain’s name servers are pointed to WordPress.com, you need domain mapping to completely link your domain with your site. We have a guide to Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping) that goes through those details.
If you don’t point your domain’s name servers to WordPress.com, but use a domain forwarding service from your domain registrar instead, you can forward visitors from your domain qito.co.uk to qito.wordpress.com (so the address qito.wordpress.com appears in the browser when visitors are on your site). You can do that without domain mapping, and your domain registrar can help you with the details for setting that up.
