I stuffed up
-
Hi, I wanted a .com.au domain so i went and registered one, came back to WordPress and found out i could only map it. So i did that and ended up with a .wordpress as well.
Now i want to cancel it and just go back and start again and simply use a .com -no .au
That way i get at least half of what i wanted and i should’ve gone that way at first.
I’m not worried about the .com.au name i registered..maybe i can do something with that as well at a later stage.
Can i cancel the mapping deal and just simply go back to a .com registration with WordPress and start again??Thanks, Dave

Hi,
Purchases made on WordPress.com can be canceled and refunded during the refund period. You can read more about it here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/
And here is some info about renewing and cancelling plans and domains: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/faq-renewing-and-canceling/
Hope this helps :)

Hi Dave,
I see @catkiinson provided some helpful information about cancelling upgrades. Please let me know if you have any questions about using a custom domain on your site :)

Thanks Cat and Gemma, i cancelled my purchase and now i will try again. I was put off by the dot AU thing which made me go and register it somewhere else and came back and mapped it…wrong!!
So now i think i will just go with a dot com and keep the dot AU name til i know what the hell i’m doing LOL
Thanks for your help

Hi Dave,
I see you’ve now bought skippityroo.com for the site, skippityroodotcom.wordpress.com
If you also have a .au domain that you want to use for the same site, you can add it as a secondary domain using domain mapping. That way both domains will take people to your site, and you can select which one of them you want to be visible to people when viewing the site.
If you want more info on how to do that, please let us know.
