Hey there,
We have a handy guide for mapping a subdomain to your blog. Please take a look at it, and let me know if you get stuck.
Best,

Hi,
I used your “handy guide,” and I am stuck, which is why I am asking for help.
In the meantime, it just gets more and more confusing -
Howdy,
I’m sorry for the confusion, and I’ll be happy to help clear things up.
Can you give us some more details as to how you’d like to set up your WordPress.com blog with blog.austinyoga.net?
Did you mean to map blog.austinyoga.net to http://austinyogadotnet1.wordpress.com/ ?
Where are you getting stuck?

Thanks for trying to help. I wish I could explain it better. I own the domain austinyoga.net and it is hosted at godaddy. I want a blog as part of my site and so I thought I had figured out that I needed a subdomain, which I thought I created, named blog.austinyoga.net.
but when I go to my site through the “backdoor” I can’t for the life of me figure out how to make my subdomain appear. i followed all of the instructions I could on wordpress and all of the instructions I could on godaddy but something isn’t adding up.
I don’t want anything to do with “http://austinyogadotnet1.wordpress.com/” and I am not sure how I ended up creating it. Like I said above, I think somehow “mapped my domain” backwards and I am very confused.
sometimes I get to the dashboard for austinyoga.net which doesn’t show anything at all about blog.austinyoga.net and sometimes I get to a place that lets me choose austinyoga.net which is now actually “http://austinyogadotnet1.wordpress.com/” or blog.austinyoga.net.
I’ve done all kinds of things with setting nameservers and adding an A host and/or a cname and none of this makes sense to me.
Does that give you any more info to see what the problem might be?
thanks again,

Ah, okay. You can use the Front page displays option to display your most recent published posts on another area of your WordPress.org site (which I see you’ve already done).
You don’t need to create a subdomain for this instance.
I don’t want anything to do with “http://austinyogadotnet1.wordpress.com/” and I am not sure how I ended up creating it.
I see that you’ve permanently deleted that blog already from your WordPress.com dashboard, which is exactly what I’d recommend since you didn’t need it.
Also, I see that you’ve canceled and self–refunded the domain mapping that you didn’t need.
Nice work! :-)
As you already know, austinyoga.net is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress via their Codex and Support Forums.
If you have any other questions regarding your self–hosted site, please contact the WordPress.org Support Forums.
