I think my blog might have caught a virus!
-
I’ve got a sure-fire problem now:
2 or 3 days ago I noticed that I’d started getting
“Done, but with errors on page” warnings attach-
ed to all dashboard pages. The public blog pages
do not seem to be affected. It didn’t seem to be affecting anything meaningful
at that time BUT, for during that time period I didn’t
try to post up any videos like I usually do.But today, when I went to use my editing app to
try and get a post up including videos once again,
it began acting very slowly and erratically. There’s
no way I’m going to be able to accomplish my
usual tasks with it working like it is now.Can you fix it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First thing to do when your dashboard acts wonky is to log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then give it another try.
Also, have you tried a different browser to see if it is browser related?
As far as a blog here, or wordpress.COM catching a virus, there is nearly zero chance of that.
-
Oh, okay, thank you, SP.
Good tips here. I will try them out immediately.
But consider this:
All that still leaves me stuck with these page
script errors, which I have just acquired. Ac-
cording to the “details”, they are video-related.
Only after acquiring them did I start running in-
to grievous problems posting up vids & such.I just want to know if ya’ll can make ’em go
away, period. I’ve never had script errors be-
fore now, or issues with my editor. The details
tell you exactly what and where the error is: a
video thing. If I could go in there with a pair of
pliers and a crowbar I’d yank it out myself, but
I wouldn’t know where to begin (obviously). -
it will do no harm to try these 3 all free , download , update and run , remove everything

I wonder if it’s a flash error. There were some problems with the latest Flash upgrade. Try removing your current install of Flash and installing an older version.
Also, why are your posts in the forum so narrow?

I am new here and i’m getting the ‘Done but with errors on the page’ too. I am on a brand new lap top so i know it’s not a virus and everythingi is up to date. I’ve logged out and deleted cookies etc but every time i come on my blog the message is in the corner. Is it IE8 perhaps?
-
In IE8, try switching either to compatibility view, or off of compatibility view. IE8 is schizophrenic with multiple personalities.

My top recommendation would be to install and use Firefox instead of IE. FF works much better here at wordpress.com in general.
-
Also, if there is any error message that comes up, let us know what that message says, especially if there are any error codes or such as that might help staff in identifying this issue if it is an issue on this end.
-
Thank you for the advice. I’m already noticing IE8 is in need of therapy. I haven’t a clue about compatability views etc but i’ll take a look at the link. Is Firefox safe to install? I don’t know much about computers so is Firefox ok to work with Win7 or doesn’t it matter?
-
The error message is on my dashboard page in the left hand corner at the bottom. It has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and it says ‘Done but with errors on page’….but i haven’t switched to Firefox yet
-
i have had IE8 since it came out and also win7 without any problems on wordpress , could the problems not lie elsewhere
i also think firefox is hard to work with , deleted it after 6 months
-
-
you will see that error at times no matter where you go to , it means nothing , its not in your dashboard its in the upper taskbar and part of the IP page
-
-
This definitely sounds like an IE issue.
Firefox will definitely work on Windows 7, and I almost always recommend either Firefox or Chrome over IE any day.

Thank you, i think i’ll try Firefox for a while, i can always switch back can’t i? Thanks for all the advice.

-
i said it wrong , the grey stripe across the TOP of the bottom taskbar is where you see it
-
Ooh i’m learning a lot here haha i think two browsers at once might just defeat me though. Thank you, you have been very helpful to a newbie.
-
Okay, I am back with updated info.
I have tried SP’s suggestions. I did have better luck
editing with Firefox, and I don’t get any script error
notifications with it. But I don’t know if Firefox even
displays them like my usual IE browser, so you tell
me.My first official act this morning, before all this got
started, was downloading a FlashPlayer update that
popped up on my computer. I did another one a day
or two ago, which I thought was odd. I’ve had the
script errors for a couple of days, maybe three. The script errors say the gangster is:
jQuery.VideoPress.data
in “index.php” is null or not an object.
It lists this same item twice, once in index.php, line 912,
and again in index.php, line 82219858, Char 1, code: 0.
I have noticed that my blog looks GREAT on my particular
browser: an older version of Windows XP Professional, in IE
8, on a 22″ widescreen. However, when I view it in other browsers on other machines
and on other monitors, it can look different in each one and
NEVER looks as good as it does with my set-up. When view-
ing it with Firefox just now, it looked crappy as hell, like a
nearsighted junkie laid it out. With my standard set-up though,
it could win an award for design excellence. What all kinds of problems do I have here? I’m starting to feel
overwhelmed. Now I don’t know what to do!
