I thought I was going to be able to start my blog on WordPress without cost – but when I try to launch my site I only have options that require payment. Was I mistaken ?

How do I launch my site at the no-cost WordPress hosting ?

  • Hi there,

On the screen asking if you want to add a domain, type in your existing free address, plasticsarepersonal.home.blog, and click to proceed with that address.

There is no obligation to add a custom domain and paid plan if you don’t want to.

I am a complete novice at this, having never thought of doing a Blog – but now I have been told that WordPress does not allow me to start out with the free option to see if anybody reads what I write. So I am definitely confused on how to even get started.
Can you help me get my Blog started ( plasticsarepersonal). I want to encourage discussion on how, as individuals, we can collectively drive change to reduce the use of plastic in the marketplace.
    1. I have a Gmail account- (email visible only to moderators and staff). But what more do I need ?
    2. Can I add pictures to my Blog ?
    3. I have no idea what “HTML tags and attributes” are -will this be a problem ?

You can have a completely free site, as @kokkieh mentioned, choose the existing plasticsarepersonal.home.blog address and Free plan (skip the purchase). You can make the site public without purchasing any upgrade.
