I tried to add a new theme and now I can't access my website

I tried to add a new theme which did not work when I clicked ‘activate’, and now I can’t access my website or add a different theme to replace the one that didn’t work.
Every time I try to get to my dashboard, or my website, or do anything I receive this message:
“Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.” How can I restore my website so that I can continue to work on it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That looks like a site running a self-hosted version of WordPress. This support forum is for sites hosted here at WordPress.com
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different things: https://wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The support and documentation you’re looking for is here: https://wordpress.org/support/
That said, one or more of the files have been corrupted, probably during the theme install. Unfortunately for self-hosted sites, the repair is up to you. If you’re not familiar with the WordPress code, it can be a very daunting task to resolve. Try contacting whoever is hosting your site and see if they have a back-up. Going forward, you may want to consider hosting your site here at WordPress.com to avoid these sorts of issues.

Thank you very much! That does help a lot and clears up some confusion. I was able to fix the problem on my own (amazingly, haha) after some struggle, which was definitely not something I’d wish on anyone (haha). I will consider hosting here in the future as I appreciate your fast and helpful reply. Thanks again!
