I tried to change password and make my website secure. Now it seems I am locked out.

I was concerned that the lock image was saying my site was unsecure. Not sure what I did, but it seems I am locked out.

  • Hi there,

I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under the account you’re using to post here. Can you tell us the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

Thanks for that! Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org ) but hosted at GoDaddy.

We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

It looks like you have two separate issues: the “unsecure” message and your login.

The “unsecure” thing only indicates that your website does not have an SSL certificate added to your site. A SSL certificate adds https:// to your URL, indicating that it is secure. It is not a requirement, but you can contact your hosting provider to see how you can add one to your site.

Regarding your password, are you requesting the reset from your website login page?

If so, you should reach out to your host for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you reset your login password.
