  Why has this feature disappeared from Pilcrow. Can it be restored without charge?

  The theme you are using is retired.
  Themes are retired because they can no longer support the majority of new WordPress features.
  That might be the reason you can’t change the color.

  I have already shown you in that thread that it is possible to change the background color using the Pilcrow theme.

  Please return there to continue troubleshooting the problem.
