Hey vipprimo,
I’m afraid site deletions are permanent and the site address will not be available for use again.
You can always try to use something similar or add a custom domain.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

I’m having terrible problems with my site. I’ve had to set up this new account just to be able to ask for help!
I’m desperately trying to delete my site. I bought the domain name for 123 reg and linked it to WordPress but now want to use it elsewhere.
I’ve tried going to tools and deleting the site but there’s no option there to do this. I’ve cleared all the site content and just want it deleted.
Please help I’ve been trying to do this for the last two days!!! Could someone please contact me.

Okay, let me get this straight. Once another user deletes their sight that they no longer want to use and someone else wants to pick it up they can’t because wordpress locks that sight out for good?
Doesn’t seem like good business sense to me. What would stop someone from just going in and logging a ton of sites and then just deleting them so nobody can have them?

the theory on no reuse is to protect the original owner – say you have a very G rated family site and delete it – then someone else gets the site name and puts a ton of adult rated pictures and such – then some time down the road – your aunt Ethel who never quite got the message that the family site was deleted – clicks in looking for kids pictures and finds all the adult stuff – poor Ethel might have a heart attack or something

auxclass, thanks for that. Although I don’t agree with the policy I do understand why the policy is in place when put in that context.
I hope that policy does change in the future, such as a time limit before later use.
