I want a different H1 to Meta Title
-
Hi all,
I want the option to have a different Meta Title to my H1. Can’t see the field on the edit post page – is this a property of the theme I choose or is it a limitation of the free wordpress CMS?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Google usually uses the TITLE tag for the title of a post in search engine listings.
I am used to being able to set a TITLE tag that is independent of the H1 heading.
for example
the TITLE may look like this
<TITLE>This is the title</TITLE>
<H1>and this is the heading 1</H1>But on my wordpress.com blog (using Baskerville theme) they are the same field

There is no option to have a different values for title and post heading.
Is there a reason you believe this makes difference to your SEO?

There are reasons why, on occasion, I might choose a slightly different h1 to Title.
The TITLE tag has to be more economical with the amount of words – so I might choose to condense a particularly complicated H1 to its most basest form whilst allowing the H1 to more fully explain the content of the page
