I want full functionality?

Currently I am not using all the space I have at my host (ipower), instead I am redirecting my domain name to the6thfloor.wordpress.com, but I want to change that. I finally cleaned things up on the space my host provides, dumped all my old files from my previous site and installed WP 3.1. I was hoping to stick with the same theme (currently Twenty Ten), but I am noticing after the install I do not have all the same features when it’s hosted away from wordpress.com. I have noticed this on numerous themes I have attempted to use and each theme seems to be lacking some of the widgets I once had available when my blog was on wordpress.com. Is this typical? Does this mean I need to spend the money and buy a “pro” version of a previous theme (Vigilance) that had everything I wanted in a theme.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM has many features that are not in the standard wordpress self-hosted installation. It has nothing to do with the themes themselves. What you have to do is to research and find plugins that will give you most of the functionality that is missing.

The place to start with plugins for your self-hosted site is http://wordpress.ORG/extend/plugins/

And for support you need to be at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ . That is where the self-hosted version is supported.

    1. WordPress.com and wordpress.org run on different software >
    http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    2. Themes with the same names here at wordpress.com as the themes at wordpress.org are not coded the same way and do not have the same features. I think it’s important to know that wordpress.com is a WP-MU blogging platform. The themes here were all originally coded to run on free standing wordpress.org software installs. In order to run on wordpress.com software they were “adapted” and some features were eliminated as this is a WP_MU blogging platform we cannot access and edit the underlying php and html in the templates. The themes we use here are all derived from shared templates.

    3. WordPress.com has some in-house widgets which are not included in wordpress.org installs. They are not available unless you are free hosted here by wordpress.com.
