I want more clarification on what i can and can't do in terms of advertising

I can’t get clear clarification on what I can and can’t do in terms of advertising.
What is classed as a third party advertiser?
Can I include a banner with a link to a website?
Can I have advertising withing my blogs or pages? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hello,
A third party advertiser is a company such as Google AdSense, OpenX, or BuySellAds. You can’t include a banner or other image ad with a link to a website. You can include affiliate links: https://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/More information about WordPress.com advertising policies is available here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
-
Ok third party advertiser issue is no problem an makes sense.
So if I write a blog incorporating a brand, can I have an image and link to them?
If in my blogs, I interview a guest, can they have a link to a relevant site? -
I’ve tagged this thread for a staff member to review, because I’m not sure about the answers to your followup questions.

I am also curious about this question. I currently manage Active Learning in Political Science; it’s on the free plan. I would like to:
1) drop “wordpress” from the domain name and
2) be able to insert an image or two that is linked to an external sponsor of my work — an advertisement — similar to the ads for Gorse and Best British Short Stories 2014 on the right sidebar at https://tinycamels.wordpress.com/.
Is this possible with the premium plan?

No blogger initiated advertising for driving traffic to third party sites is allowed. PPC is not allowed. Affiliate marketing banners and any and all advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com are not allowed.
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.

Not allowed!

No.

Is there an additional charge for signing up for WordAds?
Based on the information you’ve provided, it looks like the steps I would need to follow to achieve my intended objectives are:
1) Sign up for WordAds, which requires $18 for the “activelearningps.com” domain name.
2) Pay whatever WordAds costs, if anything.
3) Then buy the premium plan for $99 per year so I can customize the look of the blog? (Will the $18 I paid for the domain name be discounted from the first year’s $99, or am I paying twice for the domain name?)
To possibly clarify: the idea is not for me to earn revenue by hosting ads on my WordPress blog, it’s to help market another company that is subsidizing the costs (the premium plan) of my work on the blog.

I repeat that is NOT possible wordpress.COM. Hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and set up your own wordpress.ORG install.
We provide support here only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
We do not provide support for WordPress.ORG software installs. As that site is not hosted here at WordPress.COM, our support docs are not relevant, and you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
This is getting very complicated very quickly. All I would like to do is link to a company on the blog that I publish via WordPress.com. Maybe it’s a violation of WordPress policy — and I’m not going to do it if it is — but I could accomplish this objective simply by pinning a post to the top of the blog’s front page that has “Thank you to Tiny Camels Pet Food for sponsoring this blog, check out the company’s extensive line of baby camel food.”
For purposes of a hypothetical example, if the Tiny Camels blog (which has a wordpress.com domain name) is not participating in WordAds, does that mean it is in violation of WordPress policy and the linked images for Gorse and Best British Short Stories 2014 should be removed?

You are making an apples to oranges comparison. http://sacredcamelgardens.com/ is NOT hosted WordPress.COM
It is WordPress.ORG install
sacredcamelgardens.com is hosted by BlueHost
WHOIS: Click Here
IP Address: 66.147.244.234
Name Servers:
ns1.bluehost.com
ns2.bluehost.com -
I wasn’t trying to compare the Sacred Camels website with anything. I just linked to it as an example of what may or may not be possible given WordPress.com policies.
Here’s my main point: Tiny Camels has a wordpress.com domain name. It contains linked images in the sidebar that function as advertisements. This is exactly what I would like to do with my blog. I’m sure I could find dozens of other blogs with wordpress.com domain names that do the same thing. Is this a violation of WordPress.com policies?

If there is any wordpress.COM hosted blog with any paid banner or image advertisements driving traffic to third party sites then report it please as that is not allowed. https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
-
Edit: If there is any wordpress.COM hosted blog with any blogger initiated paid banner or image advertisements driving traffic to third party sites, then report it please as that is not allowed. https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
Bottom line: There is no upgrade that changes what I posted above

So no mention of any brand or company is allowed on a blog?
No websites are to be written in the text of a blog?

Am I assuming I’ll hear a response from the emails provided?
I have emailed them but no reply as yet. -
Staff work through all support tickets and support forum threads tagged for their attention in datestamp order. As there are tens of thousands of us bloggers and only about 350 Staff who are not all support staff you need to be patient while waiting.
It is my well considered opinion based on answering questions here for over 9 years that I have already provided correct answers in this thread and contacting Staff will amount to a waste of your time and theirs.
While waiting I suggest you read:
