I want more space, not an Upgrade.
-
Hi,
I got carried away and reached my limit of 3gb. Now I would like to buy extra space without having to upgrade entirely. $129 is just too far fetched for a blog that only showcases images.
Is there any way I can just purchase extra space? I’ve found a few links to this on Google and other forums, but every time I click it just directs me to the plan upgrades.
Thanks

The only way to get an extra space allocation is to purchase an upgrade bundle. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/
WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
Stand-alone upgrades are no longer possible for new purchases. If you already had this upgrade you would have been able to renew it, but you can’t buy a new one if you’ve never had it.
As a workaround, keep in mind that you can also upload your media to another service like Google Drive, Flickr, etc. and insert it into your posts from there. https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/#insert-an-image-from-the-web

Note: Images you upload into your media library and embed into posts and pages are on wordpress.COM servers. They remain visible unless or until you delete them from your media library. Doing that removes them from every place you embedded them in the blog and leaves behind broken links.
Images you link to on other sites are not on wordpress.com servers, and can disappear if they are removed at the source from the servers they are on. Read more here https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/09/20/omg-my-images-are-gone/
