I want my blog address to be the same as my blog name

  • Unknown's avatar

I thought I fixed my blog domain but my address is still my name and not the name of my blog.
Also, how do I add my host site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,
Your blog address is http://mypaperinklove.com and your site title shows as My Paper Ink Love. Is that what you were trying to configure?

You will be blogging at http://tracybygate.wordpress.com/, since you have the domain upgrade, all your audience will be seeing your content on http://mypaperinklove.com. Only you will be able to access your blog at http://tracybygate.wordpress.com/ . Consider mypaperlink.com as an alias to your site tracybygate.wordpress.com. You can find more details about domains in this support document here.

    Thanks !
I really don’t know what I am doing.
Will I be able to use hostgator now with this blog.
    I am such a beginner.

  • You are actually all set. Nothing to worry for another year. You don’t need to do anything apart from writing your blog. :)

Why are you thinking about Hostgator now?

  • Unknown's avatar

Because of the advice I got said to use them as my host.
    Do I not need this,?
I already bought a plan from them.
    I told you I was a beginner. :>

  • At this point, you don’t need to. You are good for a year. I would suggest you just start using your blog and write up some blog posts.

But I believe this is self host and I want hostgator. I am following directions on setting up a blog for my business and finding it difficult. I also need to know the version I have and where the songwriter theme is.
    Thanks

  • Oh, I get you now. This is not self hosted. This is WordPress.com. Here is a support document that would help you understand the difference.

At this point in time, you can stay on wordpress.com or move to Hostgator. Both will similar functionality. You can decide how you want to proceed further, i.e stay hosted with WordPress.com or move to hostgator. Both have their own advantages.

I am afraid, the Songwriter theme is not available for wordpress.com. You can browse all the available themes here.

Do let me know how you want to proceed, I will be glad to help you.

DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY until you understand more what you’re buying.

You literally don’t need hostgator. You are going to find dealing with WordPress.org challenging when you have to do all your own tech support and updates and security. I would advise sticking with WordPress.com for at least a month, going through http://learn.wordpress.com, and once a month is up you’ll be in a much better position to decide if you need hostgator or paid hosting at all or any upgrades.
