I want my blog address (URL) to change to match the title of my blog
-
When I registered with WordPress I used the domain name I own. Now I’ve named my blog and I realize I need to have my blog URL match the blog name. How do I change it? I can’t seem to find a way to do that on the Dashboard.

I found it! Just took a while longer. My only problem now is my dashboard insists on calling the two blogs (it made a second blog for the new name) the same thing. It won’t acknowledge that I changed the name on one of them (in General Settings).

Note that it’s not necessary to change the WordPress.com URL to match a custom domain name, but if you want to do that you can as long as the name you want to use is not already used as a blog name or username on WordPress.com.
What is your end goal including the blog URL and blog title?
-
My end goal is to move my blog hosted by wordpress (xxx.wordpress.com) to a hosted site using WordPress software (xxx.com). I’m using WordPress.com to get it up and running while I work on getting the hosting set up and buy the domain name.
Am I making things complicated for myself? Should I wait until I have the host and domain set up and just put it up through my host, and not waste time working on it at wordpress.com? I was hoping it would be an easy process to transfer the site.

You’ll only be able to transfer your content to a self-hosted WordPress.org site, so if you’re doing anything more than content creation, I recommend waiting.
