I want my tagline to be featured when I share my main blog page on social media
-
Sometimes I don’t have a specific blog post to share, but would rather share my entire blog site to someone to check out. I share on social media, but for some reason instead of showing my tagline or my most recent post, even, it just shows an excerpt from a random post of mine. I HATE this. How can I fix this to show something specific like my tagline when I share my main page on social media?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry but that is not going to happen. You also need to become aware of tagline length. I suggest reading my post Creating an effective blog tagline at https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/creating-an-effective-blog-tagline/

I’m happy with my tagline length, thank you. I just need to show SOMETHING other than a random blog post when I share. How do I do that?

Did you actually read what I linked to? Your tagline is way too long. Taglines are brief branding messages. Google will not display your site title tag and tagline unless it is within the parameters specified.
Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a site title tag, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display.

I’m at work so I didn’t take my time to respond. I should have been more clear. I don’t actually WANT a tagline. I put one up as a test. It’s actually gone now. It is going on my ABOUT page. I am trying to change what shows up as I share, instead of some random post on my page (which I’ve asked several times now) so please respond to that question.

Please try clearing your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache if you still see a tagline displaying.

It sounds like the issue isn’t so much about displaying a “tagline” as changing the site description. That can be done here if your plan supports it: https://wordpress.com/settings/seo
If you have a static page as your front page, you can show that page’s excerpt.
If you are showing posts for your front page, Facebook shows the first few lines of the latest post — from the last time Facebook “scraped” the page. You might work around this by 1) making a post that has your description in it, and making that post sticky, then 2) re-scraping the site via Facebook’s debug tool: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
