I want the picture in the widget to link to instagram page.

is there a way to make the picture that appears in the widget on the side column to link to my instagram page? When I click on the picture, it takes me to the jpeg file image. I would like it to link to my instagram account.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The image in your “Follow Us On Instagram” widget, links to an Instagram account page. Are you still not getting this result? Are you left clicking on the image?

I have the same problem. There’s an Instagram Widget, but no “Follow Us On Instagram” Widget as far as I can tell.
the site I need hep with is heidi-around-the-world.com -
@ heidihetzer,
I have the same problem. There’s an Instagram Widget, but no “Follow Us On Instagram” Widget as far as I can tell.
I believe layogapaddle merely titled the Instagram widget “Follow Us On Instagram.” On your site, you’ve evidently given the Instagram widget the title “Aktuelle Fotos.”

@ heidihetzer,
Also, I found that each of the images in your Instagram widget that I tested linked to an Instagram account, just as the single image in the Instagram widget in layogapaddle’s sidebar does.

Okay, so the title should link to the instagram account page. It doesn’t. You can click on the images but that only takes you to the jpeg not the instagram account page, in our case instagram.com/heidihetzer.
This is unfortunate since people have to click back and forth, back and forth to see new pics. I added a text link to get people there but it’s not convenient…

I’m not very familiar with Instagram, but I believe there will be a link to your Instagram account accompanying each image, thereby providing access to all images posted to the account. That is the case with the single image displaying in layogapaddle’s Instagram widget.
I wasn’t at this time able to confirm that your images each had a link to the account because the images are not presently displaying. Instead is the message:Beim Abrufen von Instagram-Bildern ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. In einigen Minuten wird es einen neuen Versuch geben.

I had to reconnect the instagram widget. now the images are displaying again.
Explaining the issue more specifically:
when you open an instagram account page like this one instagram.com/heidihetzer , you arrive at an overview of the instagram feed. you can click one image and use arrows to navigate thru all pics. This is convenient.
The wordpress.com widget allows you to click on an instagram image, but this takes you to that specific image, not the feed. So to see the next image in the feed you have to go back to wordpress, click on the next pic, which takes you back to one pic in instagram, then back to wordpress and so forth….
This is inconvenient. Therefore I suggest the widget be changed to fix this. Let a click on an instagram image take you to the account, not the image.I know you can’t do this, but perhaps you can notify someone to put it on a list of things perhaps to consider improving in the future?
Thank you!

I think you may find that it works differently because of the way ‘Instagram‘ works.. and not so much how wordpress works with it.. For example, when I first made an Instagram Account, I was a little annoyed how it works (or doesn’t work) on a computer / laptop ie: you also cannot upload pix via computer, only by phone.
I’ll also mark it for ‘modlook’ for you as there may be something in the ‘works’ / future..?

Hi there,
The Instagram Widget is designed to display (and link to) the latest individual photos from your Instagram account. If you’d like to link back to your Instagram account, rather than individual photos, I’d recommend adding an Instagram Badge or a link in the Social Media Icons Widget. :)

@ marlaheidiswebmaster,
The wordpress.com widget allows you to click on an instagram image, but this takes you to that specific image, not the feed. So to see the next image in the feed you have to go back to wordpress, click on the next pic, which takes you back to one pic in instagram, then back to wordpress and so forth….
I’m glad you found an alternate solution, but it is not necessary to go back to WordPress and click on the next pic. Each single image page at Instagram linked to by your Instagram widget, as I previously found in layogapaddle’s case and mentioned above, contains a link to all of the posted images in the Instagram account. All you need to do at any of the single image pages is click on the Instagram username link (beside the avatar) on any image page, to reach the homepage, https://instagram.com/heidihetzer/, which contains all 1898 posts.
