I want to add the More tag to my posts but I cannot see it in the edit choices

  I want to abbreviate my post when it is viewed so they can click on ‘continue reading’

  Show the beginning excerpts of your posts so a reader can click the “Read More” tag to be directed to your full post.

  Hi there,

  The site at https://retiredtorvliving.com/ is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. If you’re using the latest version of that software, it means you’ll be using the new block editor. In that editor you can insert the read more link via its own special block.

  In the editor, insert a new block where you want the preview to cut off, and type /more, then select the block from the options provided.
