  Do you already own a domain name registered to someone else, other than WordPress.com or you are purchasing?

  If you already have a domain name registered to someone else, you will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain.

  If you want to purchase/register a domain name, it comes free when you upgrade your WordPress.com site. You can also find more information from this link.

  If you wish to use your own custom theme on your WordPress.com site, you need to purchase the Business plan. This is the only plan that allows the use of third-party themes and plugins. You can read more here:
